Well, it’s definitely winter. Even if we’re having a mild day, we know we can’t plan a barbecue anytime soon! With that said, today, Blue Ridge Coatings is doing its part to remind our readers of what summer days are like and that they’re not too far away. How? We’re discussing decorative concrete!
When Can You Apply Decorative Concrete?
Now is not the time of year to create a beautiful decorative concrete outdoor space. Unfortunately, with the tendency toward colder weather, no concrete, decorative or otherwise, will set adequately this time of year.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t start planning.
If you start thinking about how you’d like your outdoor space to look now, you’ll be ready when Spring rolls around and the weather is perfect for concrete curing.
How Can You Use Decorative Concrete?
Decorative concrete is not a particular type of concrete but describes how you use it. Various decorative concrete patterns are available, and you’re sure to find one that will work well for your particular outdoor space.
Patios
You can use concrete to create beautiful designs on your patio. If you already have a flat, non-decorative concrete patio, we have good news! You don’t have to tear up your whole patio and replace it. We use concrete overlay to add a new layer of concrete to your patio (or other surface) in the pattern you like.
Walkways
Like creating decorative patios, making your walkway or walking path more aesthetically pleasing doesn’t necessarily require tearing up your existing one. Even if it’s in less-than-perfect condition, BRCS is adept at concrete repair, so there’s a strong possibility we can work with what you already have.
Also, like patios, you’ll have several walkway patterns to choose from, but some of the most popular are brick and cobblestone.
What About Colors and Polish?
Of course, you’re not limited to simply picking your pattern when you choose your decorative concrete. You’ll also have options for various coatings and sealants to change the look of its surface.
Decorative concrete is almost like paint; it comes in many different colors and finishes. If you want one that’s shiny, we can do it! But matte is there if you need it. Likewise, you’re not limited to a dull grey. Pick the finish that compliments your yard or the rest of your home.
Hey Summer, Where You Been?
We know what you’re thinking. Why are you tempting us with promises of summer fun and beauty when we’re stuck in the coldest season? Well, it’s not cruelty!
And it’s also not just to give you something to look forward to. Like all home improvement projects, adding decorative concrete to your yard takes planning, picking, and preparation. We want to help you get started now!
If you call us this time of year, by the time you’re ready to have a new outdoor sitting area, you’ll know exactly what you want and have a timeline and a budget in place. Plus, you’ll be first on the schedule!
So, we hope you enjoyed this Winter blog about planning to prepare for Summer this Spring!
